Keynote Speaker





Inner Wireless

Ed Cantwell: President/CEO/Board Chairman, Inner Wireless
Mr. Cantwell is InnerWireless' chairman, president, and chief executive officer. An InnerWireless founder in 2000, he assembled today's InnerWireless team, developed the company's business model, and has guided the company through a $26 million series A venture investment, and a $12 million series B venture investment and a successful product launch.

Ed's wireless experience began while in Texas Instruments' MulTIPoint division which evolved into SpectraPoint Wireless where Ed served as president and CEO. He spun SpectraPoint out of TI to become a unit of Bosch Telecom, then engineered the company's acquisition by Cisco and guided the formation of an LLC with Motorola. Before founding SpectraPoint, Cantwell held several positions within TI's Defense Systems and Electronics Group and also served as an Air Force fighter pilot for 12 years.

A seasoned speaker who has presented at numerous industry events, Cantwell graduated from the University of Michigan's executive training program and the Air Force's fighter weapons school. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Duke University.

Laurence Briggs: CEO, InvestIN & President, Keiretsu Forum DFW
Laurence Briggs is Chapter President of Keiretsu Forum Dallas/Fort Worth. His industry knowledge includes: financial services, robotics, anti-terrorist devices, metal transformation, medical devices, oil & gas, and staffing services. Mr. Briggs has negotiated 28 acquisitions and raised capital many times. He has founded several companies in Egypt, France and the US. Mr. Briggs is co-founder of the InvestIN Group and has been the CEO since 1995.

Mr. Briggs has advised, among others, Mobil Oil, Colgate-Palmolive Co. and a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. on overseas transactions.

Since 1992 Mr. Briggs is a permanent resident of the US making his home in Dallas, Texas.

Mr. Briggs qualified as a professional accountant at the London School of Accountancy (London University) in the '70s and he is a Fellow of the Sloan Fellowship program - London Business School (London University) 1982/3.

Laurence is an avid supporter and member of the Dallas chapter of The Association for Corporate Growth, the Dallas chapter of TexChange, the Executive Committee of the Dallas chapter of the Dallas Business Forum of Houlihan Lokey, and the Board of Directors of the Matrix Society.

Mr. Briggs speaks English and French fluently.

Mr. Briggs holds the NASD series 7, 63 and 24 securities licenses




AMX

James Pautler: VP Engineering, AMX
Jim has over 25 years experience in designing and developing communication systems. During the last 10 years has been the engineering lead in a series of high tech startups in the Richardson area where he was active in the business plan development and acquisition of financing from the local VCs. Jim is currently the Vice President of Engineering at AMX, a high end commercial and residential controls company. He has led development teams across a broad spectrum of communication systems including packet voice systems, GSM handsets, CDMA network capacity performance, free space optical systems, vehicle location and messaging networks and was a member of Motorola’s original cellular development team. He has extensive experience in system analysis and design from initial conception through integration and test to field deployment. He is a member of IEEE and has technical presentations at numerous conferences. His educational background includes an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, an MSEE degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a BSEE from the University of Missouri, Rolla.

Robert Gruebel: Mentor Advisor, STARTech Early Ventures
Bob is a technically oriented professional with experience in managing new product development and strategic alliance programs. He served over 30 years at Texas Instruments as a manager of several product divisions and a senior member of the technical staff. He has been a mentor to startup ventures at STARTech Early Ventures for seven years. He recently served as interim-CEO of E-tron (InnerWireless), a STARTech portfolio company, guiding the company through early venture funding.

Howard LaMunion: CEO, ConsulttUs
Howard founded The ConsulttUs Group in March 1999 and today it is the leading OnSite" outsourced marketing services firm in Dallas/Fort Worth. He has twenty-five years of management experience in strategic business planning, market viability research, product management, brand development, public relations, media management and investor relations. This includes ten years in c-level positions. His background includes Fortune 500 companies such as Danaher, Tylan-General/Millipore, EDS, Motorola, United Technologies/Carrier, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Saulsbury Fire Rescue Apparatus/Federal Signal, Span Instruments/Class-1 Fire Equipment, as well as three start-up technology companies. He had key leadership roles in positioning two start-ups for successful acquisitions and one for an IPO. Industries served include telecommunications, semiconductor, process control, public safety equipment, healthcare, banking, IT solutions and government. He has extensive acquisition, merger, alliance, and partnership development and execution experience. Howard served in public office for eight years at the city council level leading budget, economic development and public safety committees. He also served as a firefighter/EMT for several years and was certified in med-e-vac air transport. Currently he is a member of the Dallas Police Department Reserve Battalion. He has a Syracuse University Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing.

Market Research Insight

Mike Courtney: Managing Partner, Market Research Insight
Mr. Courtney has over 15 years experience applying marketing research and financial analysis within various high tech and financial industries. He was a partner in an early stage venture fund evaluating startup companies and currently leads a consulting agency focused on marketing research and analysis for customers in high tech, consumer electronics, and packaged goods. He is a board advisor and personal investor in multiple startups in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex and is actively involved in the entrepreneur community.

With extensive knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, servers, software, wireless devices and emerging technologies, Mr. Courtney has been involved with product and concept development of technologies including wireless instant messaging, Bluetooth, powerline networking, natural language database tools, Biometrics, mobile payment systems and various digital services.

His marketing research experience includes a wide range of both qualitative & quantitative methodologies with an emphasis on new product/concept development, volumetric forecasting and demand analysis.

He is a frequent seminar leader and speaker at corporate, industry and academic events and is a co-author of the book "Wireless Internet, Crash Course", published by McGraw-Hill.

Mr. Courtney has a B.S. in Business Administration, State University of New York and a Masters of Marketing Research (MMR) from the University of Georgia, Athens, GA.


Tech Fort Worth Business Incubator

Christopher Fields, Director of Operations, Tech Fort Worth Business Incubator
Mr. Fields currently acts as the Director of Operations for the Tech Fort Worth business incubator. Chris oversees new client business development, operations, and program initiatives. Mr. Fields owned and operated a development consulting company, Benchmark Community Development. Benchmark Community Development focused on creation of community and economic development bodies leveraging State and Federal programs, tax incentives and like resources to spur businesses opportunities in emerging community markets. Mr. Fields has organized start-up private financial management companies, multi-community organizations, trust and not for profits as well as authored and initiated community planning and leadership programs. Mr. Fields has a BA from the University of Oklahoma.
